The founding years and the first success stories
| Dr Theodor Stiebel develops the first coil immersion heater and founds the company of "ELTRON Dr. Theodor Stiebel" in Berlin on 5 May. Production of immersion heaters starts in a small backyard workshop in the Reichenberger Straße.

The first small instantaneous water heater with 1,000 watts and the then revolutionary "2-phase technology" is manufactured. This appliance is awarded VDE test certification as the first of its kind in Germany. The company has grown by now and already employs 30 staff.
| The range of appliances is significantly expanded this year. It includes boilers (with an overflow pipe), high-pressure water heaters and water boilers. These have a water capacity of up to 600 litres each depending on the model. With the instantaneous water heater that is launched on the market this year it is also possible to ensure an almost immediate supply of hot water.

10 years after founding of the company the factory buildings in the Reichenberger Straße have become too small. The move to Berlin Tempelhof ensues. The staff has already grown to 200 employees.
| In Buenos Aires the STIEBEL ELTRON brand is finding a ready market. The entrepreneur's far-sightedness causes the company founder to travel to South and North America this year. However not only the American market but all 5 continents prove to be excellent market outlets for German technology in the ensuing years.

The company starts up production of large instantaneous water heaters. STIEBEL ELTRON by now has over 35 German and 12 foreign patents. The company has been awarded 10 patents for coil immersion heaters alone.
| The Berlin factory was entirely destroyed in the Second World War. Dr Theodor Stiebel completed the move to Holzminden in Lower Saxony and made a new start there. There were already 20,000 inhabitants in this town on the Weser at this time.
