A first step for renewable energies
|
The company's progress continues upwards. Convection ovens, which emit heat immediately, making every room warm and cosy, are new in the product range. To this day innovative appliances for direct heating from STIEBEL ELTRON stand for immediate comfort.

STIEBEL ELTRON creates yet another addition for its range of products with ironing machines for domestic and industrial use. Later on kitchen and household appliances will be added. However in the course of concentration on the core business during the 1980s this sector of the business will be divested.

Thanks to the development of storage heaters STIEBEL ELTRON ranks as one of the pioneers in modern electric heating. Later known as night storage heaters, heat is stored during the off-peak periods when electricity rates are cheaper and is then used to heat the house during the daytime.

Charles Wilp—"the whizkid of advertising" provides the company with important new impetus. His breathy advertising slogan "STIEBEL ELTRON—constant hot water" remains in the minds of many consumers to this today.

As one of the first producers, STIEBEL ELTRON starts development and production of heat pumps. After all, the 1970s are characterised by oil crises, increasing prices for fuel oil and car-free Sundays. There is a rethink in the population, and systems which operate with renewable energy start to be considered for the first time. In the years to follow the company works on continuing to develop heat pump technology and manages to establish itself as the market leader in Germany.

The idea of using energy from the sun leads to the development of solar collectors. STIEBEL ELTRON introduces an entire programme of products in the ensuing years with high-performance flat-plate collectors, domestic hot water heaters and compact solar installations.
