STIEBEL ELTRON participated in the EXPO 2000 world exhibition with the "Hofanlage Brombeerweg" residential development of low energy houses. Dr Ulrich Stiebel demonstrates efficient methods of healthy and environmentally friendly building.

STIEBEL ELTRON strengthens its business in Thailand with new manufacturing facilities and a subsidiary. Single-phase instantaneous water heaters are built in the production hall in Nonthaburi, a district of Bangkok. These so-called shower units are intended for the Asian market exclusively, as the appliances are different to those for the more demanding European market in terms of comfort.

STIEBEL ELTRON acquires the HVACR division of Elektrolux Deutschland. With effect from 1st January 2002 STIEBEL ELTRON takes over Elektrolux-Haustechnik GmbH together with the AEG and Zanker brands to include the product range for hot water, central heating, area heating systems, air-conditioning and ventilation. As a result of this purchase—the largest acquisition in the firm's history—the company expands at once by almost one third.

STIEBEL ELTRON acquires Tatramat GmbH. The company distributes its products principally in Eastern Europe and is the market leader in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Steel enamel domestic hot water heaters with a capacity from 10 up to 600 litres are manufactured in Poprad in Slovakia. The wall-mounted and free-standing heaters are produced for the market in Central Europe.
