Renewable energy giant launches new products following record year

Merseyside based global renewable energy firm Stiebel Eltron is announcing the launch of an innovative new range of products following its most successful trading year.
Speaking at world’s biggest heating products show ISH in Frankfurt, Stiebel Eltron’s UK managing director Mark McManus said the German owned firm had grown its worldwide turnover to 475m Euros. Meanwhile the UK operation launched by McManus in February 2008 has turned over more than £5m and grown its staff to 14.
“The strength of Stiebel Eltron’s performance worldwide, and in the UK, shows there is still a huge market for green energy products despite the downturn,” he said. “The global turnover is being driven by Western European sales and we are now looking forward to promoting our new range of products being launched in the UK this week at the Home Building & Renovating show at the Birmingham NEC. Later this year we will be launching an ambitious new package of services, training, support, leasing schemes and warranties for our installers and customers to drive the UK operation to the next level.”
Mr McManus highlighted the importance of renewable energy heat pumps in Stiebel Eltron’s new product range.
“Heat pumps are right at the forefront of the green energy revolution and this is a massive growth industry,” he said. “Essentially heat pumps, which Stiebel Eltron has been pioneering for more than 25 years, extract energy from the air or ground to produce heating for a property. Immediately the property is no longer at the mercy of volatile oil and gas prices meaning the heat pump can pay for itself within a matter of years. And of course the carbon saving impact is considerable. Heating is responsible for almost half of UK energy use and carbon emissions therefore heat pumps have a vital role in making the UK greener.” (see notes to editors)
Mr McManus pointed to two new heat pumps unveiled at ISH as being major innovations for the UK market.
“The first product (WPL 14 HT – see notes to editors) is very much aimed at the domestic UK market,” he said. “It is a new high temperature air source heat pump. Critically this can work in older buildings and can be used to supply hot water to existing radiators. This is a major step forward from air source heat pumps simply providing underfloor heating.”
“The second product (WPL 34/47/57 – see notes to editors) we are keen to promote is a compact 1.5m tall air source heat pump aimed at much larger properties such as hotels and apartment blocks where it can be positioned on roofs.”
Mr McManus said Stiebel Eltron UK is still actively looking to recruit more installers including heating engineers, electrical contractors, plumbing contractors and heating and ventilation specialists.
“With more public and private sector organisations going green and installing renewable energy products there is a huge demand for work,” he said. “Through our free training courses in Germany and the UK we can help British installers improve their green energy skills. And we can help them become accredited for Government grants schemes such as the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. Ordinarily this can be expensive but we can make it much more straightforward and we can slash costs.”
