Renewable energy giant targets Jersey in recruitment drive

A global renewable energy giant is launching a recruitment drive on Jersey for specialist tradesmen.
German owned Stiebel Eltron, whose UK base is near Liverpool, is one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of sustainable energy heating products including heat pumps and solar panels. Heat pumps extract energy from the air, ground or water to produce hot water and heating for a property.
Stiebel Eltron’s UK managing director Mark McManus said the firm wants to increase activity in Guernsey and recruit specialist installers. These include heating engineers, electrical contractors, plumbing contractors and heating and ventilation specialists.
Mr McManus said that with heat generating more than half of UK carbon emissions and being responsible for half of UK energy use more public and private sector organisations are going green.
“Stiebel Eltron is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of renewables,” he said. “Heat pumps are a key weapon in the green energy revolution. Through our new five star installer package we can offer top class installers the best possible package of training, financial incentives and technical support in return for using our products.”
The five star package, the System Partner Programme (SESP), comes with eye catching benefits such as improving the warranty on heat pumps from two to seven years. Installers also receive a free version of Stiebel Eltron’s heat pump navigator computer software. The navigator examines 40,000 different options before giving architect standard advice on the most efficient green energy heating system.
Mr McManus is keen for installers to see what Stiebel Eltron can offer them. “We know it is tough for installers to win business in the current climate,” he said. “But we would like to speak to specialist tradesmen and see how we can work in partnership together and for the installer to take advantage of the extra-help we are willing to offer in return for using a Stiebel Eltron heat pump.”
