Two new build homes in North Wales are the first to benefit from an innovative air source heat pump system from Stiebel Eltron.

The three-bedroom properties in Caernarfon, which sit adjacent to each other, have each been fitted out with a WPL10ACS heat pump with HSBB cylinder module.

The heat pumps will provide heating and domestic hot water for the properties, generating large CO2 and cost savings.

Leading North Wales green energy installer Ecosystems Wales Ltd fitted the system, with the property owners keen to make sure the homes were as eco-friendly as possible.

Gwyn Roberts from Ecosystem Wales Ltd said: “The owner is a civil engineer who wanted to ensure that both properties used renewable energy wherever possible.

"They were convinced by the quality of Stiebel Eltron’s products and have been delighted with the efficiency of the system.

“This has been a very straightforward project for us as the WPL10ACS and HSBB cylinder are both very compact and simple to install.

"They will be providing heating and hot water throughout the properties, with underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs.

"The air source heat pumps sit neatly outside the homes, while the compact HSBB units fit nicely into a utility room.

“The HSBB is great because it has all the controls in one place, making it easy for the end customer to use and also for any maintenance issues.”

The WPL10ACS is a market leading air source heat pump combining two functions in one appliance – central heating and domestic hot water (DHW) heating.

Designed to withstand freezing temperatures, the WPL10ACS provides an ambient climate all year round, with high efficiency due to the low electricity demand even in cool temperatures.

Its innovative design also enables the heat pump to be mounted directly onto a wall.

The HSBB unit is a 200 litre DHW cylinder with integral efficiency circulation pump.

Mr Roberts added: “A further bonus about the and HSBB is how quietly the combisystem runs.

"The customer has been really amazed at just how little noise it makes.

"From my experience, the WPL10ACS is certainly the quietest heat pump currently on the market in the UK.

“This is also the first installation of this particular Stiebel Eltron combi-system in the UK, and I have already had lots of enquiries from developers and property owners looking to use the same system.”

Mark McManus, managing director of Stiebel Eltron UK, said: “We are delighted to have launched the WPL10ACS and HSBB combi-system into the UK market.

"With the discreet design of the units, they are a perfect fit for smaller homes and particularly the social housing sector.

“As well as helping to dramatically reduce carbon emissions it is a product which can slash back on heating bills.

"The WPL10ACS has also proved in trials that it can withstand freezing temperatures and still produce the required heating.

"This is a terrific new product right at the cutting edge of microgeneration technology."

With all the controls in one place, the HSBB is quick and easy for customers to use
