Heat pump myth 4: Heat pumps can't be as green as they say as they are

The truth: Yes they can!

Heat pumps use renewable energy to generate heat. So there is no CO2 created on site, and when using green electricity as the drive energy, very little - or even none - none at all is generated. This means that heat pumps make a massive contribution to climate protection. "If you use a heat pump as a heating system in your home, you save around 2.5 tons of CO2 annually," says Mark Mcmanus, Managing Director of STIEBEL ELTRON UK ltd.
