Stiebel Eltron switches to environmentally friendly packaging
More sustainability in the hot water range
Stiebel Eltron is making its hot water range even more sustainable: The packaging of a total of 147 products world wide – including instantaneous water heaters and small storage tanks – has now been completely converted to environmentally friendly, recyclable cardboard packaging. The new packaging combines ecological materials with a clear, modern design and at the same time provides more orientation for retailers, trades and end customers.
"Since 1924, we have been bringing technologies to households around the world with products that conserve resources and the environment through their energy-efficient functioning. But we don't stop there, because sustainability is also at the forefront of the production of our devices: this includes, for example, developing products with a longevity and easy repairability, using environmentally friendly resources, saving energy – and also packaging our products sustainably and safely," says John Felgate, Managing Director of Stiebel Eltron UK, "That's why we've fundamentally rethought our packaging. The result is a cardboard box made of resource-saving and recyclable materials. It also reduces the use of chemicals, varnishes and paints."
Until now, white-bleached, varnished, multi-colour printed paper has been used for the cardboard boxes. "Now we rely on brown, untreated cardboard that is printed in one colour – all recyclable, of course," says John. In addition, the box is firmer and therefore more stable than before, so that the devices arrive safely at the customer even during longer transport.
Packaging combines sustainability and design
At the same time as the changeover, the packaging layout was optimised: a new, clear design and specifically placed information on the box enable quick orientation for wholesalers, specialist tradespeople and end customers. "The product features and areas of application are clearly shown and can therefore be seen at a glance," says John, summarizing the advantages.
Going into their second century of trading, sustainability is at the forefront of both the company's product offering and company beliefs To underline this the Stiebel Eltron Group has joined the "United Nations Global Compact", the world's largest initiative for corporate responsibility and sustainable development. The changing packaging is just part of the company's holistic approach to achieving the highest levels of sustainability.
