STIEBEL ELTRON UK secures ISO environmental management accreditation for sustainable operations
STIEBEL ELTRON UK has today become ISO accredited for driving sustainable practices across its operations and reducing its impact on the environment.
The leading provider of heat pumps and renewable energy solutions has been awarded the ISO 14001 Environmental Management accreditation for its efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, streamline waste management and improve its environmental performance.
The accreditation comes as STIEBEL ELTRON UK looks to build upon its sustainability initiatives, with the company recently installing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points at its headquarters in Bromborough, Wirral, in a bid to support its employees to transition away from fossil fuels.
Reacting to the certification, STIEBEL ELTRON UK Managing Director Mark McManus said it demonstrated the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, as well as aligning with its ambition to spearhead renewable heating solutions across the UK.
First launched in 1996, the ISO 14001 Environmental Management program is designed to guide companies in identifying, managing, monitoring, and controlling environmental processes, allowing them to benchmark their current performance.
An internationally recognised standard, the accreditation process saw STIEBEL ELTRON UK assess its energy use, transport planning, materials reuse, renewable energy generation, and waste management, as well as setting out ways to improve it.
To be certified, STIEBEL ELTRON UK had to meet the requirements of the standard on an annual basis, seeing the company reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the business using its own renewable technologies, implement recycling and waste management measures, and improve its overall environmental progress.
The certification comes as STIEBEL ELTRON UK continues to be a driving force behind the adoption of renewable heating solutions, such as heat pumps, across the UK.
As well as providing the latest and most innovative technologies, the company shares industry knowledge with comprehensive training which will empower installers with the expertise to fit them.
Following an initial £350,000 investment into a new state-of-the-art training centre and programme in November 2022, the company expanded its facility in September last year to increase capacity for new heat pump installers, which has so far seen more than 650 installers provided with in-depth knowledge.
Meanwhile, the company expanded its operations into the Irish market in February this year with a view to delivering renewable heating technologies and driving greener homes across the country.
Mark McManus, STIEBEL ELTRON UK Managing Director, said: “Ensuring that we minimise our impact on the world around us is vital to the work we do and a core part of the business as we look to drive renewable heating solutions across the country.
“Companies are rightly being held to account to be as sustainable as possible and this ISO accreditation shows our desire and commitment to reducing our environmental impact.
“Full credit to the STIEBEL ELTRON team leading the process, who worked tirelessly to assess our performance and identify measures which have seen us successfully optimise our operations. The hard work doesn’t end here though, and we’ll continue to drive sustainability across the company to ensure we continue to lead from the front in delivering a greener UK moving forward.”
Throughout 2024 the company is committed to growing every aspect of the business, from investing in new renewable energy technologies and products, to further developing its training facilities and workforce.
