STIEBEL ELTRON expands headquarters to deliver industry-leading training

2023-09-14  –   STIEBEL ELTRON expands headquarters to deliver industry-leading training

LEADING heat pump manufacturer STIEBEL ELTRON UK has expanded its headquarters in a bid to further develop its state-of-the-art training facilities, due to high demand from aspiring installers.

The move will further improve the company's headquarters in Bromborough, Wirral, to increase capacity for its training programme which has already provided more than 400 installers with the expertise to thrive in the heat pump industry in this year alone.

Adding a 20,000 sq foot space, the expansion follows significant investment from STIEBEL ELTRON UK into its training programme in the past 12 months as it looks to inspire a surge of installers capable of meeting increasing demand for heat pumps.

As well as providing an area to deliver comprehensive training, the new space will also be used to increase capacity for the storage of the company’s renewable energy products, allowing STIEBEL ELTRON to further meet demand for the supply of heat pumps to the UK market.

Last year, the company pumped £350,000 into a new training facility to supercharge the next generation of installers, with the latest addition designed to cater for more due to the programme’s popularity.

The course, which first launched in November last year, has seen hundreds of aspiring installers learn their expertise and is set to see a further 570 trained in the coming months.

The expansion will see the company create a training workshop kitted out with the latest heat pump and renewable energy products for prospective installers to get to grips with.

With the new training area expected to be finalised in the coming year, the move forms part of STIEBEL ELTRON UK’s commitment to grow the UK’s heat pump market with a view that electricity is the fuel of the future.

While the Government holds ambitions to deliver the installation of 600,000 heat pumps annually by 2028, there is currently a shortage of installers available to fit them, with the number of qualified technicians needing to increase exponentially to 27,000 to achieve this target.

To fill this gap, STIEBEL ELTRON UK created a comprehensive training programme which would cater for new-to-industry trainees, as well as acting as a viable tool to support the country’s 120,000 gas boiler installers transition into the heat pump market.

As a result, the company developed a comprehensive course which caters for all levels of installers featuring the latest industry technology with a range of ground and air source heat pumps available.

Additionally, the programme offers qualified installers all the tools they need to progress their careers, with STIEBEL ELTRON UK providing them with support after the course throughout the installation process, not just at the point of purchase.

With demand for the training programme only increasing, the company decided to expand its training facility in a bid to accommodate more trainees at a single time, while also allowing the company to offer a broader range of products and technology as part of the practical elements of the course.

The expansion of the company’s headquarters comes after the company committed to growing every aspect of the business, from developing its training facilities and workforce further, to investing in new renewable energy technologies and products.

Mark McManus, STIEBEL ELTRON UK Managing Director, said: “With demand for heat pumps increasing, we’re seeing a growing number of industry professionals who want comprehensive knowledge of how they work, and how they are installed.

“Whether it is those just starting out on their career or those looking to transition away from gas boilers, STIEBEL ELTRON UK’s training programme is designed to cater for all with a course which delivers both technical knowledge and practical hands-on experience.

“With hundreds signing up to the course throughout the past year, expanding our headquarters to meet demand was a no brainer. We’re looking forward to further delivering a world-class trainee scheme and to inspiring the next generation of installers who will drive the UK’s heat pump market forward.”
